The Oakland Girls Softball League (OGSL) mission is to provide organized fastpitch softball to all girls between the ages of 6-14 in the Oakland, CA community with the overall goal of promoting sportsmanship, developing individual skills, encouraging friendship, and providing leadership opportunities via a fun and positive athletic experience.
Self-funded through member registration and sponsorship donations, OGSL is a volunteer run, non-profit, equal opportunity organization affiliated with the Amateur Softball Association (ASA).
Spring Recreational League Program
Our spring recreational league is for girls who wish to learn the game and develop their skills while gaining an understanding and appreciation for team fastpitch softball. Operating between February and June each year, all registered girls are placed on a team for their appropriate age group (7U, 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U) and are guaranteed playing time in every league game. OGSL is open to all girls in the Oakland community meeting the age criteria and who adhere to an appropriate code of conduct. The league provides organized skills clinics/practices, team uniforms, softball equipment, scheduled playing fields, game umpires, and volunteer coaches.
Summer Tournament Team Program
In addition to Spring Rec Ball, our Oakland Vipers summer tournament team program is offered for girls with advanced skills in their age group who love the game and are dedicated to serious competitive play. OGSL sponsors our Oakland Vipers teams with a mission to field the most competitive teams for ASA tournaments, typically during June - August. The league provides equipment, fields, and coaching volunteers who select the team members via a try-out process. Selected players fund the cost of their team uniforms, tournament entry fees, and travel.
