Volunteer Information form

The Spring 2008 Season will begin play in March 2008 and runs through the first week of June. OGSL play is open to girls age 6 through 14 living in or near the Oakland area, regardless of ability or experience. Sign ups take place from October through early January and practices begin in February.

Discounts are available for siblings, volunteer coaches and managers. A limited number of scholarships is available for families in need of assistance. Please contact the league for more information.

7U Division (Girls age 7 or under on December 31, 2007)
The 7U division is primarily instructional for the youngest members of our league, making kids familiar with overall concepts and procedures. Non-scoring games, continuous batting, coach pitch or hit from a tee.

8U Division (Girls age 8 or under on December 31, 2007)
The 8U division introduces pitching and specific skills and strategies. Games are scored with a limit on runs in the first 3 innings. Continuous batting, kids pitch assisted by batter¹s coach-pitch. Win/loss records are recorded, division championship awarded at season end.

10U Division (Girls age 10 or under on December 31, 2007)
The 10U division introduces additional strategies and skills specific to hitting, base running and defense. Regular scoring with a "mercy" rule after 3 innings. Win/loss records are recorded, division championship awarded at season end.

12U Division (Girls age 12 or under on December 31, 2007)
The 12U division emphasizes the age-appropriate advanced strategies and skills. Regular scoring with a "mercy" rule after 3 innings. Win/loss records are recorded, division championship awarded at season end.

14U Division (Girls age 14 or under on December 31, 2007)
The 14U division emphasizes the age-appropriate advanced strategies and skills, similar to high school level play. Regular scoring with a "mercy" rule after 3 innings. Win/loss records are recorded, division championship awarded at season end.

These age divisions are consistent with national ASA standards as well as well as most leagues in neighboring communities. Exceptions to girls playing up or down an age group may be considered, at the Player Agent's discretion.

We encourage all participants to register online, however, OGSL will also process mail-in registrations. The 2008 registration form can be downloaded here.
